Studio glass casting is an art that demands patience, precision, and dedication. In this video, I take you behind the scenes in my glass studio to showcase the challenges and intricate processes involved in creating glass sculptures.
One of my favorite moments during glass casting is when I open the kiln to see the final result. Firing a piece takes about two weeks and involves complex programming—optical glass is extremely demanding and calls for meticulous attention to detail. The anticipation builds as I carefully monitor every stage of the process, knowing that even a small mistake can mean starting over.
During glass casting, there is always tension because unpredictable things can happen. You have to be comfortable with the unexpected and embrace it.
Even if it means having to start over sometimes.
To achieve the best results, I focus on:
