Anna Alsina Bardagí | Bio

Anna Alsina Bardagí is a contemporary glass artist from Barcelona exploring the interplay between light, heat, and gravity through optical glass. She combines kiln casting techniques with optical-precision polishing to control the internal structures within the glass.
Internal designs are formed during the casting process by altering the glass elements before they enter the kiln. She exclusively uses eco-optical glass free from lead and arsenic to ensure the purity of her creations.
In Anna’s words: “Optical glass offers a unique dialogue between movement and stillness. Depending on the perspective, it reveals hidden dimensions, inviting viewers to engage with the material in unexpected ways.” Her fascination with the laws of physics and the universe drives her to challenge the boundaries of dimensional spaces within optical glass.

“My art is driven by a desire to capture light, transparency, and the optical illusions that only glass can create.”

Born in Madrid, Spain, Anna grew up surrounded by nature in the coastal village of Begur by the Mediterranean Sea. She studied communications and journalism at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and worked as a reporter and science communications executive before pursuing her creative endeavors.
In 2011, Anna discovered her passion for glass. She immersed herself in kiln-casting techniques and cold-working methods, refining her craft through years of experimentation. Her artworks aim to capture the delicate balance between strength and fragility, featuring fluid lines, intricate details, and an interplay of transparency and optical reflections.
Anna’s work has been showcased in galleries and museums worldwide, including in the United States, Andorra, Belgium, France, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, and Japan. Her artistic creations can be found in private collections in the United States and Europe.
